At the Charles H. Kim Education Fund’s annual dinner on March 29th, Service to the Community Awards were given to individuals and organizations that exemplify the spirit of community service in notable ways. The 2012 honorees were Ruben Hernandez, President and Founder of Unification of Disabled Latin Americans, Dr. Byung Yul Yoon, President and Founder, Korean Needy Children Supporters Association of Southern California, and acclaimed arts education provider Inner-City Arts.
Special recognition was also given to fourteen parent and community volunteers who have gone above and beyond in helping the school on a regular basis.
A highlight of the evening was hearing winners of a fifth grade essay contest read their essays aloud. This year’s winners were Haifa Phillips and Stanley Jung.
