Historic Culmination

On June 18, 2012, the first group of students who have attended Charles H. Kim Elementary from opening day in 2006 as Kindergarteners through the fifth grade celebrated their culmination.

Los Angeles City Councilman Tom LaBonge addressed the graduates, encouraging them all to honor their roots and history. Mr. LaBonge’s appearance was poignant, because as of July 1st, he will no longer represent the area of Los Angeles in which the school resides. His support and friendship has been appreciated these past six years, and he will be missed by all.

Principal Kerry Kehrley presented Presidential Awards for academic achievement, signed by President Obama, to a handful of students, and Daisy Kim presented five awards for Perfect Attendance from Kindergarten through fifth grade. The entire fifth grade class performed several inspiring songs, and certificates were presented by all five fifth grade teachers (Ms. Kim-Cho, Mr. Park, Ms. Reyes, Mr. Shoji, and Ms. Sun).

Coordinator Mario Loeza prepared a slide presentation to the delight of the students and their parents, and he, along with Parent Rep, Carmen Rodriguez, decorated the multi-purpose room festively.
