BBCN Bank adopts Charles H. Kim Elementary

John Huh, Principal Kerry Kehrley, and two Charles H. Kim ES students

On Friday September 28th, the Charles H. Kim Elementary School community had the special honor of meeting Pro Golfer John Huh. John is a rising star in the world of professional golf, having won his first PGA Tournament as a rookie.

Mr. Huh was introduced by BBCN Bank CEO Alvin Kang, who also officially announced the “adoption” of Charles H. Kim ES by BBCN Bank. It is significant that the first new school in the U.S. to be named after an Asian now has a corporate sponsor, ensuring that the community at large will be reminded of this important distinction. We look forward to an enduring partnership with BBCN Bank.

John Huh demonstrated his skills to the delight of Charles H. Kim students, staff and parents, by hitting balls into a net set up on the stage of the MPR. Several lucky students were then treated to a brief coaching session by Mr. Huh.

It was an inspiring afternoon for everyone in the audience. This young athlete, who came from humble roots, drove home the message that passion, hard work and perseverance can lead to great success. Thank you BBCN Bank, for giving all of us at Charles H. Kim Elementary the opportunity to meet John Huh!
