On February 24, 2016, Charles H. Kim Elementary celebrated its tenth birthday at an annual dinner sponsored by the CHKEF. The auditorium was packed, and guests enjoyed speeches by several dignitaries, a short video of the Kim Brothers fruit growing and packing business, and several rousing games of loteria. Awards were given to parents who have consistently volunteered for five or more years.
Guest speakers included Consul General Hyun-Myung Kim of the Republic of South Korea, L.A. City Council President Herb J. Wesson Jr., and Council Member David Ryu. Local Director Chiae Kitayama, representing the LAUSD, also spoke.
